Walk-up and Online sales this week

Things have been humming along smoothly so far this spring (as smoothly as things ever go with farming - there are always a few curveballs!). With a core group of farmers who all have at least 2 seasons here under their belts, we are feeling like a well-oiled machine. We’ve also got some new college students who will be rounding out the crew over the next 2 weeks - just in time for weeds and harvesting to really take off!

With no substantial precipitation last week, the asparagus harvest has slowed a bit, so we will have a limit of one bunch per customer to start the week. If we can up the limit later this week, we will. We are open for walk-up sales Tuesday - Saturday. See below for hours. Online pre-ordering opens tonight, Monday May 15th at 6pm, for Wednesday May 17th pick-up. Ordering will close Wednesday at 6am.

• Green Garlic - $3.50/bunch

• Tulips - We will have the last couple of tulip bunches of the season online (they will not be available for walk-up sales). Varieties are Blue Spectacle and Orange Princess. $25/bouquet

• Basil seedlings - Keep indoors until danger of frost has passed. It is expected to freeze Wednesday night! $4/pot

• Other herb seedlings: Parsley, Sage, Chives, Oregano. For planting outdoors. $4/pot

• Tomato, Pepper and Lemongrass seedlings - Multiple varieties. Keep plants inside until danger of frost has passed. It is expected to freeze Wednesday night! $5/pot

• Mushrooms from Fat Moon Farm - Shiitake pints and Farmer’s Mix 8oz. bags. $6/pint, $10/bag (1/2lb)

• Double B Honey - From hives on the property. Not certified organic. $12/ 1lb jar

Available later this week: Spinach from the field and snapdragon bouquets from our high tunnels.

The asparagus is loving this warmer weather and supplies are steady! There is no longer a per-customer limit for online orders and the self-serve farm stand is well stocked. We will continue to be open for walk-up sales for the remainder of the week and we will open for pre-orders tonight, Wednesday May 10th, at 6pm for Friday May 12th pick-up. Ordering will close Friday at 6am. Tulips are sold primarily through pre-orders so be sure to order online if you would like tulip bunches! Asparagus update! Walk-up and online store details for this week

The cool cloudy skies last week made for small asparagus harvest for our first week of picking, but the warmth and sun this week means much larger harvests! We will now be open both for self-serve walk-up sales and pre-ordering. Because of the high demand early in the asparagus season we will start the week with a 2 bunch limit per customer per online order, however we will remove that later in the week if supplies allow.

Ordering update for Friday pick-ups

Pre-ordering will open today, Wednesday May 3rd at 6pm for flowers and veggies to be picked up Friday May 5th from 2pm-4pm and 4pm-6pm. Ordering will close Friday at 6am. The asparagus harvest is just getting started and quantities are limited so for Friday pick-ups we will again have a 2 bunch limit per customer. We will also have lots of beautiful tulips, spinach, salad turnips and Fat Moon mushrooms and more available!

Directions:

• Orders are open to everyone! You do not need to be a member to purchase.

• You do not need to create an account to place an order.

• Be sure to choose your pick-up time (there is a red drop-down menu in the upper right-hand of the screen). If you don’t choose a time, you won’t be able to see the items in the shop.

• Once an item is sold out for the day, it disappears from the online shop.

• Payments are made by credit card unless you are a Barrett’s Bucks member or would like to pay using an EBT card. It says “free” in parentheses by all payment options - this just means that it is free to use that payment option, not that the product is free!

• Barrett’s Bucks: Barrett’s Bucks members may select the “Bucks” payment option and we will deduct your purchase from your balance.

• EBT card users: We are now a HIP vendor! Please email melissa@barrettsmillfarm.com before ordering to arrange a specific pick-up time for using your card, as pick-ups are otherwise self-serve. Later in the season when the farm store is staffed this won’t be necessary.
