CSA Week 22 and Mini Store

Field clean-up is in full swing right now as we pick up irrigation lines, take down trellising and pull up landscape fabric and plastic mulches. This week we also get to do some planting in the field as we finish up planting tulips and garlic. With no store to set up and staff Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, we are feeling good about our chances of tackling our large to-do list.

Although the regular farm stand is now closed, the CSA is continuing on until November 21st. The CSA will now be set up in the greenhouse attached to the farm stand and we will close at 6pm on Wednesdays. Please email us if you’d like a pre-packed bag left out on the farm stand porch after 6pm! For the next 3 weeks we will have a mini store set up inside the stand during CSA pick-ups, Wednesdays 11am - 6pm and Saturdays 9am - 3pm. The mini store is open to both CSA members and the general public! Our Thanksgiving pop-up sale will be during the last CSA pick-up on November 21st.

In the CSA this week:

  • Sweet potatoes

  • Tetsukabuto squash

  • Autumn Frost squash - This is a specialty type of butternut that is just as sweet, stores really well and has the side benefit of being extra pretty (so if you have a high degree of self-control and wanted it to decorate your table for a couple of weeks before you eat it, go right ahead!). It also has a thin skin that is edible like delicata.

  • Leeks

  • Yellow onions - These are cured (unlike the fresh onions we had in the summer) and should be stored in a cool and dry place.

  • Garlic

  • Green peppers - Last week!

  • Carrots - Orange

  • Mini daikon - White, purple and red varieties

  • Cabbage - Purple and green varieties.

  • Curly Kale

  • Salanova

  • Lettuce

CSA Pick-Your-Own:

  • Herbs: Parsley

  • Salsa verde - NEW 2026 Batch! Made by Kenneth at Eastern Mass Provision from our own organic tomatillos, onions, garlic and cilantro. We should have the 2026 hot sauce soon as well!

  • Pears - Korean Giant. From Ed at Long Run produce in Boxborough, MA. Certified Organic.

  • Heirloom Apples - This week we have two storage varieties with really lovely sweet flavors great for fresh eating or cooking: Blue Pearmain and Black Oxford. The skins do break down when sauced, and the Black Oxford variety will actually make a pink applesauce if you leave the skins on! From Scott Farm in Dummerston, VT. Eco-certified.

  • Pink Lady Apples - From Autumn Hills Orchard in Groton, MA. Not Organic.

  • Baer’s Best Beans - Black Turtle, Italian Cranberry, and Cannellini are Certified Organic. Bumblebee and Black Coco are not organic. Grown by Charley Baer in South Berwick, ME.
