As many of you know, we have worked with with the Acton based non-profit Boston Area Gleaners for many years to donate produce to local food pantries, food banks, and meal programs. Last year the Gleaners also used USDA funding to purchase CSA shares from us as well as produce from many local farms to even better serve their food access partners. This USDA program was extremely important to the stability of our farm last season, but due to recent funding cuts it is no longer operating. The loss of these funds was a serious blow to small farms like ours. However, when some of our customers heard about the situation by reading this article in the Concord Bridge they reached out to help!
Their generosity helped inspire the Boston Area Gleaners to launch a Procurement Fund to raise money to continue to purchase produce from us and other local farms this season. If you’d like to help the Boston Area Gleaners continue this program you can donate to the Boston Area Gleaners Procurement Fund (https://www.bostonareagleaners.org/donate). If you want to put in a note that you heard about this campaign from us, you can write it in the comments. All donations to the Procurement Fund are tax deductible!
